Eastern Fruit Trade Expects Growth Through Fruit Auction Market

The ministry of Industry plans to set up the Eastern Fruit Corridor *EFC) project, the first Fruit Auction Market, in the Smart Park Industrial Estate in Rayong province, Thailand. The market is expected to become the hub for fruit sector, increasing bargaining power for local farmers in eastern provinces and strengthen long term growth of fruit sector in the region. The project is expected to generate investment and trade value approximately 51 billion THB.

The construction will begin in 2009, with an investment of 1.58 billion THB. The anticipated completion of the project is 2020.

The Smart Park is initiated to drive the development of S-Curve Industries in accordance with the Thailand 4.0 scheme. The park will be established in Maptaphut Industrial Estate in Rayong province, the construction will begin within 18 months. The park will also plays significant role in supporting the eastern Fruit Corridor project and improve local fruit supply chain activities and facilities for both domestics and international markets.
